Our hot classes are taught in a room ranging from 99-105*F. There are many benefits to using heat. The heat allows us to access tight muscles quickly while reducing the risk of injury. It increases pulse rate and metabolism, adding a cardiovascular aspect to the practice. The heat allows blood vessels to become more flexible therefore increasing circulation and getting blood flow to the limbs. Because we are sweating throughout the practice we are detoxifying our body, relieving stress and building a strong inner confidence.
HOT VINYASA
Vinyasa classes maintain awareness and focus on breath while moving through a vigorous series of postures. Each class is different but all follow a progression through warm up, variations of Sun Salutations, a dynamic standing series, various hip openers and stretches, and a final relaxation. Classes will often include arm balances and inversions. This style of yoga builds heat, flexibility, and strength while maintaining focus on good alignment.
HOT SLOW FLOW AND STRETCH
This approach to Vinyasa (linking breath to movement) helps us learn to breath, to reveal body awareness, inner strength, and improve flexibility. These slower paced vinyasa classes will include deeper stretches and longer holds. This class is appropriate for those new to yoga or experienced students who want to focus on alignment and greater flexibility.
HOT 26
The Hot 26 classes are based on the Bikram style of yoga and a great introduction to heat. Each class consists of the same 26 postures held once or twice. Each posture stretches and strengthens specific muscles, ligaments and joints needed for the next posture. This style of yoga stimulates the organs, glands, and nerves, moving fresh oxygenated blood throughout the body.
DEEP STRETCH
Deep Stretch is a slower paced class meant to restore the body and mind while increasing flexibility. We offer deep stretch in both the hot and non-hot rooms. The poses are mostly floor poses that are held for extended periods of time. The longer held postures allow tight muscles to gently release and tension in the mind and body to slowly melt away. **Evening deep stretch classes are done by candlelight to encourage a deeper sense of relaxation.
DEEP STRETCH FOR ATHLETES
This class is designed to enhance performance and prevent injury. The goal is to redirect our focus from the daily repetitive movements and single planes of motion, into a full body practice that goes beyond basic stretching. After a vigorous warm up, muscles and joints will work through all three ranges of motion, in an effort to tap into the little used muscles which support the primary movers and weight carriers, as well as a strong emphasis on core stability and strength. This class is open to all levels of students, athletes and retired athletes alike, as we all strive to prevent injury, relieve pain, find body awareness and balance in our daily lives.
CORE, STRENGTHEN AND STRETCH
This class will move at a slower pace, combining deep stretching along with postures meant to strengthen the body with an emphasis on core power. The class is suitable for all levels , helps with injury prevention, strengthens muscles that protect our organs and central nervous system and promotes a healthy posture. A great class to address low back pain.
